Given this NY Times article - which says:
Christian
conservatives … lost fights against same-sex marriage in all four states
where it was on the ballot, and saw anti-abortion-rights Senate candidates
defeated and two states vote to legalize marijuana for recreational use.
and quotes R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary as saying:
It’s
that the entire moral landscape has changed. An increasingly secularized
America understands our positions, and has rejected them.
Perhaps the real winners of the 2012 Presidential Election are these guys:
(I know that dead people often vote in US elections, but not often do they have as much impact as Hitch did.)
I was so surprised (and pleased) about the legalization of same-sex marriage and marijuana in those few states! Before this election I thought it would take a vast amount of time for the US to make any progress on these fronts-especially on the marijuana topic.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does seem like our four horsemen here have done a great job, and deserve some of the credit for swaying the public mind.
Rest in peace, Hitch.
